Week 11

The final week of term is here and it will be a busy finish to the term. With learning continuing at a furious pace a break will be all the more sweeter when we get to the end of the week.

Last week we had a great visit as part of National Youth Week. It was great to participate in a range of different activities and learn some skills along the way. Here is what we had to say:

Last week on Thursday we had national youth week. There were 4 activities but I only did 2.  My favourite one I did was DJ-ing because we got taught many things.  We got taught what parts there was on a DJ-ing kit. Then we got to play around with it. We did some scratching with disks along to music. After that we mixed some beats and music together and it sounded great. Then he showed us some moves that he can do while maxing beats together and scratching. I really enjoyed DJ-ing because I have never done it before and loved some of the music sounded great.

On Thursday for national youth week we had “da klinic” skate shop come to our school. When they came we had to put down what we would like to do. The things that I got to do where skateboarding which was really cool because we got to learn some really cool tricks and how to do some cool things like the real ways to turn. A bit that I really liked when the guy was teaching us was when we got him to jump the skateboards first we went with one and we got all the way to 6 skateboards on the seventh he hit the boards. My rating for doing skateboarding is 9/10 and now I really want a skateboard.
The second thing I got to do was the DJ in that we had someone teach us how to do scratching on a record and let us try a little bit of messing around with sound the music kit the scratching and the songs it was really really cool
I wish that we could have them come back again.
I rate this a 10/10

Last week on Thursday it was National Youth Day and we were able to participate in activities. The activities that we participated in were DJ-ing, Urban art-aerosol, skateboarding and breakdancing. I was in the group who was doing the Urban art. The urban art group was about spray painting, our teacher was Simon but his artist name/nickname was Store. In this group you would start in Mr Jones room where you would sketch and draw and come up with an idea to paint. After, you would be able you go outside and spray paint you picture you drew. I love this activity I learnt heaps, I would love for the people who taught us these to come again another time.

On Thursday a group of people came in to teach us how to do some cool little activities, I did skate boarding and DJ-ing and these people were taught by Da Klinic. When I did skateboarding Jack the teacher us some cool tricks like jumping over 5 skate boards but on the 6th one he stacked it. I learnt how to turn around and stand on 2 feet on a skate board by spreading your legs apart. I fell off a few times. Then we headed off to DJ-ing with Paul Griffin. We were taught how to scratch the disk and fade the music to high or too low music. Then showed us what he does when he is at a club. I would really like them to come back again because I really wanted to do the aerosol art work.

The activity I did was the art/ spray painting of the canvases. I learned lots of ways to draw homer Simpson and draw any other person by transferring the abilities from it. We also got to draw on paper while doing it. After the drawing on the instructors (Simon) drawing ways we got to draw our ways and then went outside and we got to get big thick cans of paint and sprayed our drawings on giant canvases, some of us done it in pairs and some alone (I was in a group of three). We also got to choose between thick and thin nozzle and thin nozzle to draw in the outlines.
We got to taught to do our own drawings at home. And I am sure everyone in 6/7 would like them back to learn more of aerosol art, skateboarding and dj-ing all day.

Last week on Thursday we had people come in from DaKlinic for National Youth Week. There were 4 different activities, They were Aerosol Art, DJ-ing, Skateboarding and Breakdancing. I was placed in the DJ group for my first activity, our instructor was called Faint One (His DJ name). He taught us how to scratch on a DJ deck and some other small skills like mixing two songs. At the end he presented us some of his work. After that our group went to breakdancing. We went through slowly and then put all our moves together, at the end we showed off our favourite moves we learnt. DJ-ing was my favourite out of the two. Breakdancing wasn’t very exciting but it was still better than working!
